Welcome to The Forbidden Bookshelf, Sara!  Just for fun, introduce yourself to readers using six words only.

Romance author, coffee addict, geek girl.

What has surprised you most since becoming a published author?

The sheer amount of things that have to be done that keep me away from writing. Promotion is an important things for authors, it gets their name/book out among the masses, but it takes a lot of time to set up, coordinate, schedule, etc and still keep writing. I still work a 9-to-5 desk job, so I’ve had to start scheduling what days of the week I devote to promotion, edits, submissions and just plan out writing. It’s exhausting sometimes, but I *love* it.

Please share some juicy details about your latest release, CHASING SIN.

Writing a sex scene in an erotic romance can be hard enough as it is sometimes. Add in another person (sometime more!) and it gets even more complicated. The fun of writing the various sex scenes in Chasing Sin was working on the choreography for the trio because I wanted more than what I think of as the “typical” ménage scene. These three get into some interesting positions!

What type of research did you do for this book? Were you surprised or shocked by anything you learned?

I spent a lot of hours sitting in front of the television watching Storm Chasers on the Discovery Channel. Though, really, that’s not research to me. I enjoy it. Also spent a lot of time in the library researching weather, severe storm structures, hurricanes and yearly weathers patterns. With three characters all proficient in such things, I needed to know a least some of what they know. I was really surprised how interesting it all was. I had a tendency to get sucked into the research, forgetting I had a book to write.

What is the appeal of the menage fantasy in erotic fiction? How could it work in reality?

From the fantasy aspect, I think if you look at what most men and women like to fantasize about, it’s a threesome. So reading about that kind of thing is appealing to both sexes. It’s a safe way to explore that sort of thing without taking that feet first plunge and actually participating. As long as there is an understanding and open communication between everyone involved, I think it could totally work in real life. Every relationship takes work, no matter how many people are involved.

Do you have any interesting writing quirks?

The majority of my work is still done in a spiral notebook. It’s lightweight, I can slip it into my bag and it doesn’t need any electricity, so I can write anywhere. Since I’m on the go a lot, that’s a big plus for me.

Do you find it difficult to write in different genres?

Not at all. I read various genres and love books/authors from all of them. So it’s always made sense to me to be able to write across various genres.

What can readers expect next from you?

It’s an exciting time for me right now! I was asked to be one of the debut authors for Decadent Publishing’s Elatia erotic science fiction romance line. My contribution for the line, Lethal Beauty will be out this July/August. And three of my books with Ellora’s Cave (including Chasing Sin) will be released in paperback soon. One is a “dual print” of Chasing Sin and Hard as Stone—it will debut at Romanticon in October where I’ll be there signing. Ragged Edge will be out in print this summer. These will mark my first time in print, so I’m anxious to get my hands on the final products!

Every spring, Kate risks her life chasing violent storms. Tired of watching her take unnecessary chances, two of her closest friends offer a different thrill. Devoted lovers Snyder and Tripp don’t just share a passion for nature’s fury; they long to have the fearless woman between them.

Though reluctant, Kate finds the proposition is too irresistible to refuse. Her acceptance leads to an explosive night of no-holds-barred sex for the threesome. However, when morning dawns, she realizes this type of unusual relationship isn’t one she belongs in.

Despite her best efforts to keep the men at arm’s length, Kate is soon facing down the storm of the century with Snyder and Tripp by her side. When Mother Nature intrudes, the trio discovers shelter in each other’s arms. With the hurricane raging outside and passion raging inside, everything is at stake.

Excerpt from CHASING SIN:

“We’re looking at a direct hit. Almost as if we had a great big target on my roof.” Sometimes it was all about knowing your gut and he’d bet anything those instincts drove her forecast. Kate sighed heavily as she pushed away from the table. “Though I don’t think it’s going to strengthen any more. Unless I’m wrong about that too.”

Doubt was a natural part of this business and he’d seen her have it enough to know she didn’t truly believe she’d made an error. “Should I remind you that after five years of chasing together you’ve never been wrong?”

Her eyes cut to the computer. “I think in this case I wish I was.”

“Wish you were what?” Tripp’s voice, still thick with sleep, sounded behind Snyder. He pressed a quick kiss to the back of Snyder’s neck as he passed, and Snyder took a moment to admire the way his ass moved under the towel he’d slung around his hips. “Got any coffee?”

“Third cabinet on the left. Top shelf.”

Snyder watched Kate’s focus return to the laptop but he’d seen something that caused him to smile. It had been subtle, and if he hadn’t been watching her, he would have missed it completely.

But seen it he had.

That faint shimmer of those strong eyes, the flash of red on her cheeks when Tripp came up behind him and kissed his neck, was hard to simply ignore. Whatever reason had driven her out of the hotel room that night hadn’t been because of the lack of desire. The brief flare had been enough to tell him she wanted them both still.

Lucky for them, sitting around waiting for this monster to get here at the end of the week left him plenty of time to get to the bottom of things. One of the few times he was certainly going to appreciate the downtime.
